Avery Dextrase

PhD Student

I am a PhD candidate in the Natural Resources and Environmental Studies program at UNBC and am supervised by Dr. Eduardo Martins and Dr. Scott Hinch. I am researching the behavior and habitat use of endangered Nechako River white sturgeon. I am also investigating what water temperatures are too hot for the sturgeon and how often they experience these temperatures. To do this work, I am using radio telemetry and habitat monitoring equipment. This research is funded by the Nechako Environmental Enhancement Fund (NEEF) and made possible through the collaboration and support of the Nechako White Sturgeon Recovery Initiative.
